Expert Radiator and Cooling System Care
An overheating engine is one of the fastest ways to turn a routine drive into a costly breakdown. Your vehicle's cooling system works hard to keep the engine at the correct operating temperature, circulating coolant through the radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses to draw heat away from the engine block.
If something in that system gives out, your engine can overheat quickly — and that's when you start looking at serious damage like a blown head gasket or warped cylinder head.
We do all our radiator and cooling system work right here at our Midvale workshop. Coolant flush, leaking hose, thermostat, full radiator swap — our team has the gear and the know-how to track down the problem and fix it properly the first time.
Perth's extreme summer heat puts additional strain on cooling systems, especially during stop-start traffic, towing, or extended drives. If your temperature gauge is climbing higher than usual, your coolant level keeps dropping, or you've spotted a puddle of coolant under the car — don't wait.
A Few Words from Chris
Hi, I'm Chris Notte, owner of Autoplus WA. Cooling system problems can be stressful, especially when you're worried about engine damage. Our team will give you straight answers, explain exactly what we find and make sure you understand the options before we touch anything.
My Promise to You
- Thorough diagnosis first. We pressure test the cooling system and inspect all components before recommending any work, so we pinpoint the actual cause rather than guessing.
- No surprises. We only proceed with extra work after we've explained the options and price, and you've approved the quote.
- Quality parts and coolant. We use the correct specification coolant for your vehicle and quality replacement parts to ensure the repair lasts.
- All work in-house. From a simple coolant flush to a complete radiator replacement, we handle everything right here in our Midvale workshop. No outsourcing, no delays.

Signs Your Radiator or Cooling System Needs Attention
- Engine temperature gauge rising higher than normal – Could point to a failing thermostat, low coolant, a blocked radiator, a faulty water pump, or a damaged cooling fan.
- Coolant leaks or puddles under the car – Coolant is typically green, red, blue or orange. Even a small drip can lead to the system running low and cause the engine to overheat.
- Low coolant level or frequent top-ups – If you're regularly topping up the coolant reservoir, there is almost certainly a leak somewhere in the system.
- Discoloured or murky coolant – Fresh coolant is brightly coloured and clear. If yours looks rusty or contains visible sediment, a coolant flush is needed.
- Expansion tank full but radiator level low – Often indicates a problem with the radiator cap or a blockage preventing proper circulation.
- Interior heater not blowing hot air – Your cabin heater relies on hot coolant. Cold air from the heater can indicate low coolant, a blocked heater core, or a stuck thermostat.
- Engine cooling fan running constantly – The engine may be running hotter than it should due to a faulty coolant temperature sensor or stuck thermostat.
- Sweet smell from the engine bay – Coolant has a distinctive sweet smell. Even a small external leak can produce this odour.
